We have an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids every year. We used to fill the eggs with coins for the kids to find, but lately we just have been filling them with gold fish crackers. The kids seem to like it, so why not. We do the plastic eggs, not the hard boiled. It just seems easier as you don't have to worry so much if you can't find the eggs later. The kids were so excited about finding the eggs. It was cold and windy outside so we did not stay long. After finding all the eggs, the kids gathered on the floor and opened the eggs and ate the crackers. They had so much fun! Such wonderful memories!

Peter's 6th Birthday Party
I decided on having an under water theme for Peter this year. He loves sharks and other creatures from under the water. I knew he would love this for a party. I bought most of my stuff off the internet and got other ideas from there. I wanted the party to have an under the water feel, so I bought yellow, blue, and green streamers and put them in rows on the ceiling, pinning them at different points. I also bought dangles and two puffer fish to hang from the ceiling. I didn't do anything else for the walls except some crepe paper and a happy birthday banner. I decorated the table with tablecloths that look like waves and some sea creatures. I had a sand art craft for the kids with containers that were shaped like an octopus, fish, and starfish. The kids loved them! I also had a pin the turtle on the submarine game. We also did a fishing game were we hung up a blanket, the kids dipped fishing poles over the blanket, pulled them up and they got a prize. We also did a treasure hunt where we spray painted an old styrofoam ice chest. We hit it in the house and the kids had to follow clues to find the chest. They loved it! For food we served Octopus (hotdogs), buoys (tater tats), clam cookies (vanilla wafers, with frosting), penguin food (gold fish, pretzels, raisins, and peanuts), and sea plants (veggies). We also served apple juice and water. Everyone seemed to enjoy it! Peter said it was his best birthday ever! Until the next one that is.

Hiking As A Family
The other day was nice, sunny, and a small breeze blew. It was the perfect day to go for a hike. We try to get the kids out as much as possible when the weather is nice. It calms them done alittle, so they are not as wild at home. We all met at the shop after Joshua closed the shop, and then drove over to Palmer Park to go hiking. The kids LOVE to go hiking and climb all the rocks. We hiked for awhile and then stopped to eat a snack before heading back. It was a great time to hike and the weather was perfect! The kids were tired when we got home and were ready to eat. They went to bed well that night.

Flying Kites
The kids have been asking and asking to fly kites and the other day was a perfect day for kite flying. We decided to take the kids out after naps and let them play at the park. We drove around for awhile and then decided to just go to a park that was closer to home. The fire we had last year killed alot of trees and the parks are fenced off. The kids had so much fun flying the kites, even little Fay. We also decided to eat at the park- pizza yum! As the sun began to set, it started to get cold. The kids had so much fun that they did not want to leave. We will definitely be doing this again!
